Jesus is the Author and finisher of our faith..it is written.
The word authority starts with the word author.. Lots to think of in that connotation..
Jesus spoke with authority..not like the scribes..( who..I take it spoke what they were taught by tradition).
Authority to me is in one who receives their power from God.. Then lifts those around and under them up by that gifted power.
Oppression on the other hand..starts with no innate power from God..they maneuver those around them and under them so as to take those power from them.
Authority lifts people from below..
Oppression hoards over people and presses down on them squeezing for more power to the oppressor from those people.
Authority rightly established responds like a goodly servant helping those around them.
Oppression responds like a hungry wolf seeking whom they might devour.

What if your only communication from there was Holy Scripture.. The Bible.
What if your only communication from your King..whom you loved and adored was that scripture. And it was the only way to get to your beloved homeland.
